When to stop?

If we’re doing a long day on motorways we will stop every 100 miles - it’s important to have a strict 10 minutes only rule though.
That way sore bum does not set in.

Also we find camel backs (or similar) are great for staving off tiredness just a small sip on a regular basis.

Longest we’ve done in a day is 750 miles but, I think to do a 1000 mile day would be an achievement and a great memory. Bearing in mind my wife rode that 750 miles on a naked 600 Bandit with camping gear I think you can do it.
🏍👍
I think 750 miles on a naked bike, is worth 1K at the very least

No need to be rude guys, I was only updating with the outcome of the original thread - I’ll refrain from doing so in the future :D

Remember, 500 miles is equivalent of over 7 hours solid riding without stopping. And stopping you will need and likely want, for fuel, a wee, a coffee or another beverage, lunch, leg stretch, a pleasant view….
Surely you are going on a holiday and not an iron but challenge to win feckall?
500 miles is 800 kilometres. At 130 kph this is 6.15 hours. I’ve ridden this distance numerous times on my way to my lads place in Chamonix. It’s not great fun, it’s not big and it’s certainly not clever. It is however a good way of getting the shitty North Eastern corner of France out of the way. Obviously it does take a bit longer than 6.15 hours but not much longer.
Usually Yorkshire to Troyes in the day.
However after last months return trip we will never ride South in the UK again. It’s a fucking shit hole. 30° and literally miles of road works. Never, ever again. Hull to Rotterdam from now on.

It’s ukgser half the knobheads on here are rude. I would hazard a guess that many also don’t even own or ride a bike. Ignore them. Some (a few) do actually ride (Doc for instance) but lots probably don’t.
500 mile days are a long slog but if they’re basically transit days then they’re doable but mostly boring. My longish days are to get to interesting places and then ride shorter days.
Do what suits your agenda for a trip and certainly don’t take much notice of the armchair riders on here.

The thin red line has spoken

See @Pepsi , I told you . Many are knobheads. Ignore them. A few do ride and you will get reasonable answers from them.

Very grown up for a moderator...... Thought better of you mate.
I most certainly never thought better of him/her. I did have him/her on ignore but took him/her off last week. Back on ignore think. I prefer to read, talk to current riders not armchair has beens.

You only visit. Some of us live here. It’s solid fucking roadworks from Maidstone to anywhere north west of that there Lunnun.

😂😂😂 well I do try not to visit and hopefully won’t need to again. The little dog is not likely to see another trip abroad so we won’t need to use the tunnel in the Motorhome. I definitely won’t be using it on the bike again so 🤞🏻 for not needing to go south.

There was nothing nasty in any of it. Not when compared with the ‘advice’ that say, Doc endured on his jaunts.

This forum has enough unpleasantness which gets dished out every day in the pub. If a fellow can’t take a bit of gentle leg pulling on a Saturday evening, as an alternative to watching Dance Off or whatever it’s called, then maybe it’s time to move somewhere else.

The travel section is moderated fairly closely and, I’d hope, efficiently. If anyone is truly upset, then I’ll just delete the lot from the opening post onwards. Bods can then start a fresh thread along the lines of ‘And how far do YOU ride in a day?” As an established winner, glenn2926 can hand out the prizes…..

PS If anyone is really piss boilingly upset and urged on to red hot outrage. The site’s owner Paul G (BHT) can be contacted either by PM or by the simple method of reporting a post. This pings up a message to the moderators, who can then deal with it as they see fit.

Jeez, you just can’t help yourself can you..... A real shame as your ride outs, reports and help to others does you proud but this petty nastiness you have labelled as gentle leg pulling does not leave a good impression of the real you.... Shame.
