Since the last Mapsource upgrade, under Utilities there is an option for "Celestial Information" which shows the dates of full moons etc.

Perhaps I'm missing something , but why would you need to know that ? :nenau

Just had a look at it.

Why does the moon rise and set in the day :nenau

Depends on what phase it is in.

At new moon the sun and moon rise and set at almost the same times.

High tides?
This did cross my mind and I could see the point if it was Marine units, but I still can't see what purpose it serves for cars / bikes / lorries etc.

I still like playing with it though. :D

MapSource is a general mapping program used for all of Garmins maps including charts so it's as much aimed at marine use as your particular use.

I wonder if the boating guys are as confused about why you'd ever want to be able to search for a street address since THEIR MapSource is aimed at marine use ;)

Also not all features have to be extremely useful. They can also be fun, nice to have or just very easy to implement and therefore being introduced anyway.

My boy thought it was there for people to find their way home by moonlight.

He may have a point. :D :D
