When's The Next Ride Out... (ever?)

I vote for Grizzly's idea for a meet up for lunch. It makes sense when you think about it. We could maybe get more members involved that way. Any suggestions for lunch? (..and don't say "the fish"...:D )

I'm up for a bimble on Saturday George, but would have to be home by 4ish cos I've got a wedding on at night.

I'll keep an eye on this too - sounds like a good day out - if Mrs Sno wil let me away.
Meeting in Crieff would suit me, coming from south of the river - save me getting lost.

Hi Ronno,
We'll try and meet up with you on the 7th, we're away to the West coast for an overnight stop on the Saturday but could plan our route home to meet up with you guys on Sunday??.
Iain L, I don't think anyone's seriously suggesting cliques?? and I agree there's no need for anything formal but it's also fair to say that simply putting up a post when you fancy a run has brought a poor response this year?? - remember your post for run to Mallaig?? - hardly an overwhelming response - even from people to say they couldn't make it??.
Ronno also did a couple of posts early in the year with poor response??
I don't think, however, a circular run is maybe required, or best? - it becomes too difficult because of the geographical spread in Scotland, I think sometimes the easiest is a good location for lunch and people can meet up locally to travel there or after lunch travel back the"long way round". With a circular run a GSer who lives in the wrong place would have to do maybe a 100 miles to Creiff(for example) and a 100 back plus the run mileage.
Anyway it would be good to meet up a bit more??

Cheers...........................Grizzly:beerjug:

PS........Anybody out for a run this weekend??

This makes sense Grizzly as I stay in the 'wrong place' lol ;)

Perhaps a meet, with some grub/a beer and then a wee run oot of 100 miles or so, then we all head back. That would suit me sir :)

My suggestion would be lunch at Braemar or Ballater. Any objections or alternatives?

Ronno

Possibly

My own Club [Ayrshire Touring Motorcycle Club] are running their first rally on that weekend, but so far the response is poor and may be cancelled, if that is the case I`m up for it.

Went on a run organised by Pragmatix earlier on in the year and enjoyed it, Shifts permitting, I`ll attend as many as possible.

How about the Fife/Tayside/Lothian lot meet someplace and travel north en mass? Provided we can keep up with Grizzly that is:moped:

Robbo,
Dunno if I fancy the Hungry Highlander. No use if it's cold and/or raining. There's bound to be somewhere else in this area that would be good for a hot meal or coffee etc.

Why not stop off on the other side of Glenshee at the Spittal, good food indoors or out and great coffees.
I will watch this post in antisipation as I may be heading down to Manchester that weekend picking up my Mother bless her so she can come and do some baby sitty at the end of the kids summer holiday.
I agree its been a quiet year on the Scottish front for many reasons. My reason is I moved house and just can't get motivated to get the bike out for some reason (it happens every 10 years or so but doesn't last).

You never know I may show up myself..!!

AndyT

Good Idea

Andy T,

Hope you can make it. The Spittal of Glenshee seems a good call. I've had a bar lunch there before and it was fine. Staff in kilts with Ozzie accents et al!

I vote for the Spittal. (1200/1230 hrs?)

Ronno

Just To Make Things More Complicated.......??

Just to give us all something to discuss?? - here's another couple of options for Sun 7th Aug. which maybe appeal? and have been used before and proved popular:-

The Clachaig Inn at the western end of Glencoe?

The Glenlyon Tearoom, at Bridge of Balgie, where the road over Ben lawers meets the road through Glenlyon - great GS country?.

And, of course, either of these would be easier for us coming back from the west coast!! - as well those who normally reside in the west.

Cheers................Grizzly

Could be up for a day out. Anyone in the Forres/Elgin area fancy meeting up for the ride to Glenshee?:D

Seeing as how we live in a Democracy, I'll go with where the majority want to meet...

...can't be fairer than that.

Sorry Mart,

Off on our holidays to Germany today otherwise I'd suggest meeting the lads (and lasses :D ) on the 7th. There are a few of us around here, so we should be able to get together sometime.

How are you placed for evening runs as well? I presume being an aircraft engineer you're either at Kinloss or Lossie?

Iain,

Hope you have a good holiday in Germany. I phoned my old man last night and it's been in the mid 30s in his neck of the woods (Rheinland Pfalz) for the past week. Phew!

Safe journey.

Ronno,

As you say it is a democracy and I'll also go with the majority but we do need to know what the majority wants so I think the Clachaig sounds good and if we make the meet 12:00-12:30 that'll gives us time and a good run up from Fife.

In fact :eek::eek::eek: democracy just you tell us where we are meeting and we'll be there :D

Right that's 2 votes (Grizzly and Robbo) for The Clachaig, Glencoe. I would imagine that would also suit G.C., so by my reckoning, Clachaig it is!

How about a different route home e.g. Fort William/Dalwhinnie then south? My suggestion is: going as far as Pitlochry, go over Moulin A924 to pick up the Blairgowrie /Braemar road A93 then over to Alyth on the unclassified Milton-Gauldswell road then head back to Dundee/ Fife.

:D
Ronno

I reckon I'll be leaving the hoose aboot 0900 hrs...nae bevvy for me on the Saturday:(

I’m easy, I can take a run through to Lix Toll and meet you there then ride back to the Clachaig for a bite, then ride through to Dalwhinnie with you.

The earlier the better for me, I was informed last night that it’s the Hippopotamus's birthday and I have to be home for about 4 !

It'll be good to put some more faces to names :beerjug:

:D Sorry Gordon, couldnae resist...Lix Toll meet sounds good. What time do you reckon to be there for so that we can get back to Glencoe for lunch?

Ronno

P.S. Who's birthday is it?

Iain,

Ok for evening runs, email me when you get back from Germany. What part of Germany are you going to? I spent many happy years at Gutersloh and Laarbruch and some great rides down to the Mosel valley. :D
