Why not get it bead blasted, (gentler than sand blasting) and have it stove enamelled?. Much better finish and look very good.

I would ring the dealer, to see if they have a paint code (but pick a bike only BMW dealer)

Or take it off and take to a paint supplier, to see if they can match from the rocker (a paint flake will do IIRC)

When you find out.........................do let us all into the secret

May be as easy seeing as it's pretty deep alloy corrosion, just to have both covers stove enamelled in a colour of your choice. On one of my past 11GS's I had them enamelled in black/dark grey. They looked great even though it was a quick job.

the 1200 was always a risk/test and as much as i need a lighter bike.
the 11xx meets most of my needs.
but many bikes will be tested over the winter
need the 11xx size/power and the 650 weight

I tried to get some a while back for the fork legs, was a royal friggin mare, and ended up going to local paint supplier to match it up, but because its anodised it ended up looking odd.
