Where in Scotland?

I've just digitised a whole load of my father's whaling negatives from the early '50s and there were some family photos amongst them.

Now - I've travelled over most of Scotland since I was very young - but I don't recognise this scene.

Anyone know?

(thought it looked a bit like Inveraray - but the church is different)

That's nae taken from the car deck.

He's had to get off the boat at the pier and walk up road a bit to get a picture with that view.

But Bowmore it most certainly is!

I didn't actually say that any of the ferry shots - showed Bowmore, or that the one in OP -was taken from the ferry.

I'm just home from 3 nights on Islay and annoyed I didn't guess it immediately. My good lady did. Fantastic wee island.
I'm stocked up with good whisky.
