Where in Scotland?

Fascinating place Islay we canoed round the Islay in the seventies. One night we bivied on the mull of Oa it was a very moving place so quiet and almost a spiritual sensation about it, rather weird. On returning home talking to my dad I found out that a troopship had sunk with heavy loss of life just off the headland in the first war. I didn't know any of this till I got home. Strange.

Fascinating place Islay . . .

Maybe this one?

HMS Otranto 6 Oct 1918

I popped across a field last week to see the wee cemetery. 74 graves I think. Many with names. A few without. The big grave is for the captain.

Boxerboy55 thanks for that info. When we paddled around Islay we had a limited time to explore. I would love to go back to the Islands we paddled around to have more time to explore. Dad had an old relative on Raasay who used to tell all the tales of the sea. Sadly like dad the oldies with the knowledge are no more. It's a shame when you are young you tend to switch off from oldies conversations.
