Where is the Cat

I am getting conflicting advise on the where abouts of the Cat on the 1200 According to the Max BMW fiches it's suggested it's in the 'Y' piece but another source tells me it's in the actual silencer

Can anyone give me a definite answer?

I'm planning to fit a stubby 'as on the 1150s' so I can attach a full size left hand pannier. Short of pulling things apart before I'm ready I thought I'd seek the advise of them that might have a better inkling than myself.

Thats what I thought, and what is suggested in the Max fiches (but not actually shown).

Hi Mark,

I have been thinking about doing the same, what happens when the bike goes for an MOT will it fail the emissions test. ALso how does it sound are you using the standard silencer .
