Where is the engine number on a 650GS twin Spark?

Trying to find the engine number to sort out taxing Ms Cheek's new bike and can't for the life of me find it.

Anyone provide any help as the search function has not given any useful links.

Anyone got an answer to this one? Need to register the bike but failing to locate the engine number!

AFAIK the engine number is located on the left-hand side of the of the bike and is best viewed laying down peering through the area where the gear-selector pedal is.

If you look for the engine sump bolt then bring your line of sight towards yourself you'll see a vertical plate with numbers etched like the old dot-matrix printers...

Although the the photo below is from my 2002 F650GS I can imagine the location is the same for the Twinspark. In the pic you should just about make out the start of the numbers, dead-centre of the pic directly below an allen bolt...
