Not that close (Bristol) but I use Sportsbikeshop and have found them excellent. If you didn't want to lug the new kit home you could visit their store and get it delivered. Their prices are good too, here's an example

they also offer a try before you buy service where you can order a jacket in your size so you know it is in stock
one of the big frustrations of travelling 50 miles to a big outlet is finding the item you want is not in stock in the size or colour you need
Take a trip to West Bay, where you'll find Helmet City. Good selection, competitive prices, friendly, knowledgable service. If they haven't got your size they will order it and it'll usually be in within 2 days. Don't go on a Sunday or Monday. They are closed. Windy Corner cafe next door for coffee and cake or full english.
There is a J and S in Plymouth
