Here I go, this is my first post on the ukgser site, and I am pleased to find some interesting stuff here!

having read lots of interesting stuff about pipes, Y-pieces, Y-fronts and the like...

I'm looking for a road legal can, and a good return on £/bhp improvements.

What is the reference exhaust system, y-piece, and perhaps chip?
What do people out there reckon is the best way to go?

[I had a Remus GP on my f650 for about 3 months before the engine pulsing ripped it to bits, but hey - while it worked, the increase in power was HUGE!]

Having been down the same route, my advice would be as follows (for maximum bhp/£):

1: Y-Piece and reset throttle position sensor to 0.380 - 0.400mV.(most seem to be set on the weak side from new) Huge difference.

2: End-can; I've got Remus Revolution - use it without the baffle 'cos it's quieter! Gives a smoother top-end.

3: Techlusion R259 - gives a biggish increase in mid-range, but a tad pricey for wot you get. Treat this comment with the disdain it deserves, 'cos mine hasn't yet been set up on the dyno, only with my arse and ear!!

Not on mine (yet)
4: Inlet trumpet, mods to airbox, different cams, gas-flowed heads - how much do you wanna spend?

Mr Rooster, thanks for info, particularly the bit about throttle pos sensor.

Will try to do 1-3 before the summer, and see what that does. probably with 1 and 2 done first.

many thanks.

MOT

Trivial questions but you know I'm thick/foreigner...
At MOT time, do you have to replace everything again?
What about the fuel consumption with Y-pece?
And do you have to tell the insurance company?

 cheers

In the process of fitting my Y piece. Told my insurance company, who weren't interested at all. They did add it to the list of accessories and hence increased value of the bike :)

Any details you can provide/point to on how to do this?

I've made all the same mods you have except the TPS.

Cheers,
Finbarr.

Littlererooster, Would you mind expanding a bit on the throttle position sensor fiddling? It sounds very interesting and never heard about it before!

many thanks in advance...

TPS Setting

Sorry, agis and finbarr - only just finished setting me new pooter up and now must dash to earn some brownie points, so I ain't got time to search for the thread concerned. Try a search within the Tech forum for 'TPS' or 'Throttle Position Sensor'. If you get stuck, post here again and I will try to help.
