I will be getting my new ( to me), rt1200 next week and will need to fit up my garmin 350 to it. Can't seem to find much helpful info on this. I have read about the canbus causing problems, (i have no idea what it is). Anyone got a tutorial on how to do this.
I know it needs to be wired so it goes off with the ignition.
Is this best done by a garage....
thanks Duncan.

I wired my 660 direct to the battery, only works when in its cradle, otherwise it doesn't draw any power. (2013 RT)

there's a socket under the headstock which is switched by the ignition. Nippy Norman has a connector which is wired into the Garmin clamp.

Got mine from the dealer. Part No.B83300413585. £10.70 + vat. It has 3 wires but the centre one is not used. There may be 2 connectors under the subframe but this connector only fits into one of them.
Dead easy to route the wire once you have connected the lead to the sat nav wire - just pop the offside mirror off and feed the wire through the hole where the screen lifts up (the top strut only pivots at this point so unlikely to get trapped), minimal wire on show doing it this way, assuming you want to mount the sat nav above the clocks.... HTH

I did the same as steady steve easy straight to the socket and mounted above the clocks

I should have mentioned that it's easier to thread the nav wire through from the top before soldering the connector piece onto it.

Also, if I was doing it again I would be tempted to solder in some tails to tap into at a later date if needed. Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies folks, i was interested to see the picture from bada, it looks a real neat installation can you tell me what it is. The one i saw on nippy normans for the rt looked a bit agricultural.
There are a few options for connecting up the garmin on NN but not sure which one i need.
thanks guys.

Mine is a Miguel mount, basically it fits via the two existing screws you have on tOp of your dash.

Hope that helps pm me if you want detail photos etc

Thankyou Bada, where might i purchase such a thing, looks just the thing i'm after. Tar very much.

Sorry got mine from e bay but put Migsel into Google and it has a few plus they have a web site. Just for info: rather than use a Ram mount in it I made up an aluminium block and kept it flush and it's nice and steady (see pic)
