I am looking to see if i can find a good price for an SP3.
I have found a company doing the DELux kit for the Garmin Street Pilot 3 for £599 + £10 pnp.

Can the delux kit ( UK model) Be found for cheaper!?

Are macro/ costco? still doing them?

All help greatfully appreciated..

Rocks

You can get a 2610 from Sportextreme for £770 - delivered - thats a whole different ballgame for a couple of hundred quid more. Sure you can get some Welsh gold mined for the extra few bob:D

Oh my God now he',s started on the SatNav route............brace yourself chaps in readyness for the torrent of questions, PM's, text messages, e-mails and phone calls.......... :D

Unless you buy second hand Costco is the cheapest in the UK, so end of enquiry..........

Rocks, here is another twisted solution.

Buy a GPS60C and a GPSV from Sportextreme. Total price is £624.

Install the mapsource software delivered with the GPSV and get both unlock codes.

Then sell the GPSV for £280 with software. The 60C will then cost you £344 but you will have mapsource. I do not think that the SPIII is right for you. (following on from other threads)

I will pass..

Hi, sorry for the lack of responce.. been a tad busy..

Thanks for the offer but i will pass..

I thought you could get a map product for the SP3 that had all of the speed camera locations for the uk on.. but seems you cannot, unless someone knows differently..

I think the GPS will have to wait till i have bought a Road Angel or similar..

Cheers

One of the PocketPC sites has a waypoint file in several different formats.
However, there are something like 2000 speed cameras in the UK and the SPIII has room for only 500 waypoints.

Now if you had a GPSmap 276C with 3000 waypoints...

eBay can also be a good place to look if you are after a SP III. You just have to be quite careful to make sure that a GPSR listed on eBay will meet your needs. In the case of a SP III, this means checking carefully to ensure that it has:

1) Atlantic basemap
2) Current cartography (CN version 6)
3) Appropriate size data chip (128 meg)
4) all the accessories (USB loader, AC adapter, bracket)
5) all the original CD's.

It is possible that someone selling a SP III on eBay may have bought it some time ago, when it shipped with CN version 4 and only a 32 meg chip. They would be selling this in good faith, but it would not really be what you want to buy. So, just read the fine print, and email the seller with questions before you place a bid.

Note that if the GPSR originally came with an earlier version of CN (for example, version 4) and the seller has since upgraded the cartography, you will need to have ALL the CD's to install it on your PC. This means ALL the original version 4 CD's, all the version 5 update CD's, and all the version 6 update CD's. Plus, of course, the unlock code files, which the seller can easily save on a floppy disk for you (they only occupy 1kb of space on a floppy).

IF you are a careful shopper, and do the due diligence, eBay can be a good place to buy. But it is not for novices.
