Can I go in West Yorkshire to look at sat navs I want to buy one but nobody seems to have them in stock to look at and handle etc. I like to get hold of things and mess about with them before I buy. Buying from the internet does not allow you to do this. Surely someone stocks bike sat navs. I do not know which one I want and having read the write ups on here it seems if you have a Garmin then Tom tom are rubbish and if you have Tom tom Garmin are rubbish. I am not into technology at all so need to handle one or two to see if I can work it.

If you walk into a Halfords or any Satnav shop unclear about which features are important to you, then you will be none the wiser when you walk out.

So the important thing is to have a plan.

Garmin and Tom Tom are much the same technically. Tom Tom after-sales service used to have a dreadful reputation, but some folks have had good experiences with them.

I will declare my allegiance to Garmin now. I would buy my wife a Tom Tom without hesitation, but would always buy a Garmin myself.

That is soooo true!

If you want to be able to preplan routes on the pc, save track logs and waypoints (that’s favorites these days) to the PC, good customer service, get a Garmin. If you’re not bothered about these things buy anything you like :rob

Thanks to all

For the help. It looks like I (with your advice) have made the decision to buy a Garmin 660. I have used a Garmin before (but only once) and it seemed reasonably straight forward to even me. Once again thanks for all your advice and help.
Cheers Glenn.
