Advice please! I've put a 30l GSA tank on my 1150, but if I run it until it the pump cant pick any more fuel up at about 270 miles, I can only get 27 litres in. So where's the other 3 litres? I've had a look at the pump and the flat bit on the plate is in line with the indent on the tank so I think its in the right place-maybe a problem with the fuel filter? What do you think?

the missing fuel will be in the tank i would've thought. I'm not sure its possible to run a tank on the GS completely empty.. unless you lay the bike on its side.

I thought 300 was about right for the adventure tank. I have read on here about a link pipe mod that connects the two lobes and allows the fuel from one to run into the other thus increasing the range. Might be worth considering that.

I regularly take mine over the 300 mile mark, 336 is as far as I've pushed my luck and if memory serves me right I had about a litre left.

Make a panic braking.
This can cause the fuel to jump from left side to the right side in the tank.
Or make vigorous curves with your bike.

If you ride a motorway with steady speed your fuel just disappears from your tanks right side and fuel gauge. Left side is still full.

Like Fatbaldbob says, 300 would be about right at just under 10 miles per litre-thanks for the thought Jaythro, maybe its the link pipe. Its working as far as I know but there's definitely something not right!

they can fit together but not clip home and you are left with the connection not made and they are self sealing so the juice won't flow

As dumb as this sounds can you actually get 30 litres in at the pump from dry without the filler neck mod?
I'm only asking as I've never had mine bone dry to check:nenau

Good question Pigglet! I dunno-I've got nearly 25 l into my old small tank before, so maybe the pickup on the 30 l tank isnt as effective (or the link pipe doesnt work?). I think it must be possible to get 30 l in if people are getting 300 miles to a tank?

Its not possible to get 30L in the tank.. unless you take it off the bike and physically drain it. The tank will always have a few litres left inside. Steptoe talked about this a few weeks ago. Its the cunning 'hidden' reserve which you can only access by laying the bike on its side. If your link pipe isn't functioning correctly then its likely you'll have a lot more than just a 'few' litres in it.
