Back again sooner than I thought...
Looking for a battery for my R65 GS. I'm struggling to find the right model. The previous owner gave me a battery that doesn't fit in the tray, no way it's going in, far too big...Now I went to my local motorcycle shop, based on their parts book records, they got me to buy a Varta 12V 19Ah 170A(EN) ref:519013017. Smaller but again, won't go in. On The R G/S Monolever generation website it says that the R65 GS has a 12v/20Ah battery(?). The tray is about 18 cm long, 8cm wide, 17cm high...
Help!
Thanks

You know it wont go in from the top dont you?
Easiest way is to take the rear mudguard off, does not really take very long.

I think it is the same as the 80 g/s and it will go in from the top BUT you have to take the top bolt out of the rear shock absorber and then pull the shock to the rear out of the way. The battery then goes in at a angle in line with the frame before being twisted into its ,accross the frame position. It is a pain but check the pic in Haines, it shows clearly what has to be done.:rob

Thanks,
Motorworks crew couldn't give me the dimensions...I found it on Motobins, they've been really patient with me...:blast, really helpfull. Great service. I got a "12v 19Ah. SLA BRAND SEALED READY FILLED GEL BATTERY, DIMENSIONS (mm) 180(L) x 170(H) x 75(W)", Exactly the size of the tray, for £52. Thanks for your advices:rob, looks like it should go in by only taking off the rear mudgard...
Still looking for Metzeler Enduro 1 (3.00-21) and 2 (4.00-18) if you've spotted them somewhere...(Ebay/others...)
Cheers
Vincent
