I have just bought a 2610 on ebay. Whilst it's in the post I ordered a Garmin Motorcycle attachment bracket. Now I have that I realise that it does not do as it says on the box - I need another bit - the actual hardware that connects this adaptor to the bike. It appears to be a RAM mount required - but which? Any suggestions gratefully received.

OK, I feckin hate TT, but the MVG lockable mount for the 2610 is the dog's bollox, then again it should be at £103

£103 for a GPSR mount? Who wrote the purchase order and specification for that gizmo, the US Military?

I use the Garmin mounting bracket (£10) attached to a standard, run of the mill, plain vanilla RAM backing plate. The same Garmin bracket fits the 25, 26, 27xx series and also the BMW Navigator II. I've used it for over 60,000 km of riding so far, with no troubles.

Maybe it might be necessary to get something as, uh, over-engineered as the Touratech mount if you plan to be doing really bone-jarring off road work, however, I've driven along Irish roads with the Garmin mount and it has held the GPSR in place without worries, and I think Irish roads are the most challenging in the world. That's where all the auto manufacturers send cars with newly designed suspension systems to get the real 'acid test'.

Here's the URL for information about the Garmin mounting bracket: Motorcycle mounting bracket (includes screws). You can also buy a complete kit that includes the bracket, screws, and a cable designed for motorcycle use for about USD $50 or less - click here for more info about that kit. Don't forget to set aside about $3 for the RAM backing plate.
