Hi All,

A group of us Tossers are planning to spend a couple of nights in the BF, we are looking at Freiburg or Titisee, are these towns OK, i realise Frieburg is larger but has anyone stayed there or can recommend a town close by.

Thanks

Lloyd

PS i have read all the threads but they are about hotels mostly not the towns

I'd go for Freiburg, much more happening there. Plenty bars restaurants in this ancient university town. Big wine town too. If you're there on a saturday there's a fantastic market around the cathedral - been there for a thousand years.

Titisee-Neustadt is OK, but has nothing particularly to recommend it, very provincial by comparison.

If you do not need the bright lights of the city I can highly recommend Pension Williams as a great value location, going back for the third year in a row in August, my mate likes it so much he is getting married there!

There is only a single pub and a few restaurants locally, but we have found it perfect, the honesty bar is very handy and whenever we have stayed there has been a few other bikers to have a bevvy with staying there.

The lcoation is perfect for the region as it sits about mid-point of the Black Forest and has easy access to the entire region, public transport is free so we have alwasy had an off-bike day and gone to Baden by train.

Thanks Rasher,

I did read your other posts on the hotel but as we are on a specfic route, Verdun, Black Forest, then up to Bouillon ( 4 nights and the other two hotels are booked ) it was a bit far up, plus the other Tossers do like a drink :D

Will certainly look to use it at a later date tho :thumb2

Well i had a very important meeting at a BMW dealership today with regards to this matter, seven Tossers were consulted, i paid attention to Tom, thought on the comments of Nigel and also heeded David's words, the so called expert who is on the trip and foolishly left the decision to him and he chose Titisee so i booked it earlier :blast:blast:blast

Nothing that cant be cancelled of course, i may just lead them to another town, they wont even realise :D

Richard, i heard some disturbing news today from one of the above, who has actually booked the tunnel for "the" Bouillon event, even tho he has no hotel.....or a bike :blast

.... The mystery man on the mystery bike :D

Titisee is good, too. Several touristy type restaurants. There is also a mini-supermarket thing with a range of beers, wines and other gentlemen's pleasures; I assume they have re-stocked since my last visit.

Keep fit by walking around the lake before breakfast. Or, better still. walk up the 'mountain'....

I of course offered to lend him my second bike, but a 400cc scooter all the way to the Ardennes may be pushing it, i am a true gent me innit.
