Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
I know I have been talking about subaru foresters recently, but...

Which Double Cab 4x4 would you go for?

Must be Commercial for cheap road tax.. Must have five seats...

I kind of like the Izuzu Dmax or Ford Ranger both in and around the 8k price range for a five year old motor with about 80k on the clock.

Opinions????

Richie we use Isuzu rodeo denvers towing 16ft trailers across fields etc they get abused big time but keep on going, back brakes need regular adjustment but thats it.
Try and get a 3.0 with power button on dash more power than 2.5 :thumb2

That's the one I mean Forry, its called the Dmax over here. Would be looking at 05/06 with about 80K on the clock and 8000€

Not up on prices but we've a 05 plate 3.0 with 120,000 on still runs great could probably do with new shocks and springs but its towed all its life.

have had no problems with the last 2 rangers i ve had for work 130000 and 155000 in the one i have now pulls well but drinks fuel when on the motorway with your foot down

Will the new tax system affect this? Apparently there's a new lay coming in where commercial vehicles can't be used for non-commerical purposes. Basically making everyine tax their 4x4's as non-commerical.

Toyota Hilux no question.

We have a Mitzubishi L200 but the new toyota is heaps better.

We've been at the boss to buy Hilux's but won't spend the cash.Got a 05 L200 which is great fun without a trailer, probably the most fun to drive drinks juice though :D

the nissan was shit but rolled well.....:blast Nissan navara 08 written off in 2009 comeing back from wales D2D....:augie

I've got an 06 + 07 L200 new shape (warrior and animal) and think they're spot on, driven buy someone who pays for the fuel you can get mid to upper 30's per gallon. older shape is more thirsty and driven by the lads... it won't matter they've all got a thrist...:blast

We had the Izuzu before that which was bullet proof as well...

I also like the ford seen a few out in the sticks... but couldn't get a deal on one, plus no hilux's available when I wanted one... or I would have had that it was my first choice...

but the L200 new shape has been really good...:thumb2 the older shaped needed a more space than an oil tanker to turn round...

The Nissan does like to blow it's engines.. pre about 08 ones... (check for the exact details)..

If you want nice sadly... has to be the Toyota

ROAD TAX

essjay is right, Richie, the definition of 'commercial' has become a bit of a minefield. You are likely to be asked to complete a declaration form RF111A which makes the use of the vehicle restricted to commercial use only.

Just a thought

Did you ever consider that such a vehicle is just God's way of telling you you have too much money?

Myke

Its here , its happening . This is also going to impact on your "Commercial"
insurance . It will be insured for defined useage and not for any other
purpose..

But anyways ,

I dunno where this rave revue of the Land Cruiser coomes from !
Anyone i know with the 30L D4D landie reckons they are Junk , overheating and blowing head gaskets on relatively new
motors

I thought they had knocked that idea on the head as being to difficult to pollice...

As in having too much money, au contraire, It means I only need one vehicle for work and family. Also I keep my vehicles till they are run into the ground, which in my book is very eco....

Had a look at a 2007 Isuzu yesterday 65000 miles and 9500Euro, a few bits needed sorting on it though so I said I would come back when he has prepared it for sale...

Been reading though that now they only have the new 2.5 which is better than both the old 2.5 and 3.0

Beginning to think it might be worth saving up for a hilux....

2.5 dmax is Irish Market import 3.0 is gray import
Good vehicle give very little bother
Ford ranger/Mazda bt50 can give engine trouble when mileage gets high
Same goes for Nissan Nivara
Hi-lux is the nicest to drive but makes a lot more Money than any of the rest
My opinion D-max or Hi-lux
They are back in price and not just as sought after ad u have to give the pps number of 3 people working for u or a herd number to get the commercial tax on them now
