I have a '07 R1200GS Adv with stock pipe and thinking about changing the tail pipe to help with the flat spot and add a few HP.
I'm not too bothered about making the bike louder, although a bit more bark would be nice.

Akrapovic seems to be good but are very expensive.
Has anyone tried a BOS pipe?
What about Remus?

What others are worth considering?

Thanks in advance.

Full system for 1200 gs/a headers and can and link pipe (two types one longer one for panniers) life time guarantee £399 plus vat.

Talk to Chris, tell him Colin Webster recommended you and you might even get a discount. I have had their pipes on my daytona 955 and my fjr and they quality kit.

Hi Colin, I called Chris and he was very helpful, couldn't give me any figures on HP but was very convincing. He said yours will be ready in a few weeks and get some info from yourself once fitted etc.

Change the headers and keep the oem end can. That gives more power in midrange revs and a better sound. Its also stealthy.

If you then want more noise or a better sound you can spend the extra on a Remus IMO.

:)

Forget the can and change the headers

I have Remus headers on my 1200ADV I've recently taken off the Remus end can and replaced it with the standard can, there's little if any difference in performance by replacing the Remus can for the standard can and it still sounds fruity but not too loud (standard can weighs about 3 times as much as the Remus though  ) it's the headers that help to overcome the flat spot at 5500rpm

+1 for the Remus headers....
I've just replaced mine and what a difference it makes....
with the std can, very little increase in volume but no flat spot and much livelier:thumb

Hello mate, I have an 07 GSA changed to Remus headers first,:thumb2 you will never regret that for performance and deeper sound.:D Just over a month ago fitted a Remus Hexacone (Titanium sleeve and carbon caps):augie as said so much lighter, sound better,:D but take the baffle out and just right.:clap:D
Put it this way I had just fitted it and went to Andover from South Devon to meet up with Bakerman & Shadowfist from this here parish, with baffle out no problem. Took baffle with me just in case it pissed me off,:nenau but all it did was put a smile on my face.:D South Devon to Isle of Wight to stay with Redken & Little Beemer again from this here Parish, again brill with baffle out.:D But ha I am a bit deaf, either the wifes ear bashings or to much time with a 7.62 tucked in my right shoulder :mcgun both as deadly as each other I might add,:augie so sound level a personal thing. In truth not noticed any performance gains,:nenau so gain is in weight and sound.:thumb2

Looks like Remus headers are a safe bet - but where do u get them, Nippy Norman doesn't list them (but trying find find anything on their site is a pain the the a##s - it's soooo badly put together).
Nor does BMWBikebits.
?

Jim'll fix it - PM sadjim and ask him for some :aidan

+1 :thumb for the BOS carbon can. Lurvly bit of kit. Wont piss the neeburs aff, even with the baffle removed. Feels a wee bit more lively in the midrange, and sounds the bollox on the overrun. Fitted it and then did a 3000 mile European trip. Took the baffle with me, but didnt need to refit it. Very happy with it, only criticism is that theres no heel protector, so tends to melt your left heel a bit........................................Needing new ones anyhow.:D

My Remus Headers came from Nippy last year, about 2 days after order going in, top people :thumb2

Silly me - looking down the LHS and selecting 'Remus for BMW' when looking for Remus stuff :blast
Oh dear.... so click on "Remus for BMW" then click the Remus logo, then "R" series then page 2..Remus headers for 1200 GS....
it aint rocket science mate...;)

If you change the headers and/or tail pipe do you need to re-tune or do something to the engine to make it run correctly?
