Thanks for the advice, headmaster
The point I was trying to make was that, unlike the Navigator, which was little more than a re-badging of a SPIII, the Navigator II has significant differences when compared with the 2610.
Mike
And map upgrades is NOT one of them
Sorry if I am short but there is a lot of confusion out there.
I work part time for a Garmin/Magellan dealer and I spend the first 10 minutes with a customer just getting rid of bad information.
From a sales viewpoint this does not help us either as sometimes the customer does not know who to believe.
I believe the differences are the Navigator II comes with a 4 button pad/battery pack that attaches to the left of the unit and a larger data card (in some markets).
Whether it is worth buying the BMW version depends on the cost.
My viewpint is that if it is 150-220 euro more than the Garmin then it is probably worth it.
(I believe the SP2610 will not work with the button pad (firmware mod) so you cannot just buy a BMW pad)
Note if you have an existing SPIII that the Garmin SP2610 motorcycle cradle comes with the standard 4 hole pattern and will attach straight to a BMW or Garmin or RAM base. All you need to do is wire in the power cable (bare ends).
A Garmin SP2610 in Australia is AU$1820 and comes with;
GPSR
beanbag dash mount
permanent dash mount
cig lighter power/speaker cable
remote control
128MB CF card (preloaded with CNA)
City Navigator Australia v5 CD
USB cable
Mains power adapter
PS just for the record the SP2610 and Navigator II (just like the SPIII and Navigator) are equally petrol resistant (or not)
