Which is better ??

Half thinking about up grading, but can't really decide which is better....

Main objective is a little touring (Ireland, UK Euro) and comutting..... (160km per day)

Choices are

Honda Varadero 1000
BMW 1200 GSA
BMW 800 GS
Tenere 660

Looking at 09 models and basing the choice in UK prices

I know all the above are different, but any general opinion would be welcomed

160kms per day (100 miles) Varadero without doubt. Cheaper to buy, comfortable, reliable and you can run it into the ground if you're doing 30,000kms plus per annum. Pug ugly I know but it's a workhorse. Tenere would be underpowered if you do any touring with a pillion. BMWs are overpriced and unreliable, especially the 1200s

i love the 800GS but seen few issues with them so i going wait till few years when have the money and bugs been worked out.

not big fan of the varadero and are just road bike. if want do some trails/gravel roads then may not be suited. also heavy fukr of a bike

Not on your list but without exception it has to be a ST1100 Pan European.
Now cheap as chips and the most reliable mile cruncher ever made.

GSA I'd say out of that list,Great day in day out bike,good at touring and easy to sit on for a few hours.I did Brighton to Bristol and back on Friday and it was a breeze ,like a time Machine

The Tenere Looks good ,but not so great on a motorway,which to be fair its not designed for.My neighbour has one and loves it.

Best part of buying a new bike is thinking about it

100 miles a day every day of the week, if so you are certainly going to rack up the miles so your s/h value will go down quick. I would thoroughly recommend the Varadero especially as it'll be injection and six speed as the earlier ones like mine are a bit thirsty...

Move closer to your work place so that you don't have to commute so far, you can then have longer in bed and then get a 660 Tenere.

I use mine for commuting to work but that is only 20 miles of country lanes and B roads and Touring and Rallies, good all rounder not Brilliant at one thing but good at most.

If you are doing big miles then if would go for the GS1200 or GSA, if I could afford two bikes then I would keep my Tenere and also have a GSA1200 for the big mileage touring.
