dunno, it cuts stuff fine. even if it goes wobbly I can chuck it out 9 times more and still be laughing.

Apart from you're guaranteed it'll go terminally wobbly just when you need it...being stuck at the side of the road with a wobbly tool isn't funny ;)

Leathermans, mmmm.

I was in Nevada a few years ago with a group of Brit off-roaders. It was mid -afternoon, kin hot & we had just completed a challenging trail - so looking about as hot, sweaty & grubby as you can imagine.

We had gone into a town to fuel up; opp. the garage was a Costco, one of our group wanted a Leatherman & I had my memberhip card in my wallet. As you can take 1 guest in with you he & I went over, the rest of the group followed & begged the doorman to let them into the air-con'd store!! Which to his credit (we really did look manky) he did.

Well, we had a blast in there! The locals were knocked out by the British accents, plied us with free 'sodas' & biscuits, gave us their staff restroom to clean up in & filled up our camelbaks with Gatorade for the road ahead...

We left having bought 40 Leathermans amongst 7 of us; they were between half and a third of the UK high street price. I know Costco sell some in the UK; suggest you check out which model & price before buying elsewhere.

I could tell you how a Leatherman saved me and three friends from a watery grave but it would take too long, ask me if you meet me one day :thumb

Don’t knock ‘em too hard…..

Aron Ralston (born October 27, 1975) is an American who became famous in May 2003, for cutting off his own arm with a dull knife in order to free himself after becoming trapped by a boulder. Ralston was a student in mechanical engineering and French at Carnegie Mellon University, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He left his job (as a mechanical engineer) with Intel in 2002 to return to Colorado to do more hiking and climbing. While on a canyoneering trip in Blue John Canyon (near Moab, Utah), a boulder fell and pinned his right forearm down, crushing it. He waited for rescue for several days, but none was forthcoming. On the third day, he ran out of water. Rather than die of exposure, he used a dull multitool he had with him to sever his arm. Although he refused to name which brand (other than to say it was not Leatherman), he did describe it as "the kind you get with a $15 flashlight and it's free, which is probably how I got it." "He's obviously one tough guy," said Sgt. Mitch Vetere, one of the Emery County Sheriff's Office searchers who first located Ralston in a remote area 60 miles south of Green River, Utah.

I was looking at Leatherman-type tools for some time when some tosser on this board pointed out that Aldi were selling something similar for £3.99 (or was it £1.99?). So I bought one to see how I'd get on with it and to see if it was worth spending 70 or 80 quid on a decent tool.

That was a year ago and me and the Aldi tool get on just fine!

:hammer
