Which Loctite do you use?

I see lots of post here referring to the use of Loctite on fasteners, that part is well understood. Loctite has a large range of different thread locking products for different strengths. Which Loctite product do you use on your bike, considering that it is highly likely that you have to undo fasteners again, to remove a part in future. Number 222, 243, 263,272, etc.?

Depends what is specified....

I use this as a guide in applications where it's not specified:

Purple - Frequent Adjustment/removal, Fine Tools, Small Hand Tools, Low-Specific torque (crush risk/delicate)
Blue - Semi-frequent removal, Standard Hand tools, Low torque power tools, potential for heat gun on removal.
Red - Infrequent removal, heavy hand tools (breaker bar/etc...) Impact Wrench, etc...

I basically use the blue stuff all over my bikes (again, except where other is called for)... you will rarely go wrong.

Just looked at the loctite 248 lipstick, Halfords have 9g for 6.99, seems a decent price comparing to eBay.

30 years of twiddling spanners for a living - If it's not asked for i don't use it.... And in many cases even when it is asked for i don't use it.

I rarely use, I often find it causes more problems than it solves. (speaking an an ex professional mechaninc but still keeping my hand in for the last 35 years on bikes)

Again, as above, i use it if its needed, it certainly doesn't go on every nut and bolt, if fact i'm far more likely to use copperslip or grease than I am loctite, then i just use whatever the manufacturer specs. for the job.

Funnily enough i do use red loctite on razor blades. Stops them falling out of the razor.

green on things i REALLY don't want coming undone .
