which one?

Is it worth paying the dealer price to get the approved used BMW 12 month warranty? Has anyone had need to make a claim - if so how were you treated?

I bought one from Ocean BMW Plymouth...had a few things done under warranty....top class service, never a problem and never ever had to argue about anything. :clap :thumb2

Extended waranty

At about £700    for a year they can't be serious - but there again I suppose they've got to make up the cost of recovering all the 1200's - now let me think was it eight or nine recoveries on my mates 1200 in about a year  - no it's ok it was only eight :eek

Go 1150 GSA - but there are still issues to watch.

well I have had 2 gs 12s both have had their faults.. all fixed under warantee.but that not the point you pay this sort of money you want a bike that you can rely on. I admit when I went to buy My first GS it was the 1150 GSA I had in mind but aloowed myself to be talked into a secnd hand `04 12 which I did 18k miles on in a year. When the `06 modles came out I swpaped for the new one as I was pushing towards 20k and My delaer was getting skitish on how much he would give me for mine. So I couldnt wait for the 12 gsa. 14k miles later and a now being on first name terms with My loacl BMW mondail guy, I even know how he takes His coffee I have called him out so many times I have fianly bought hte bike I wanted in the first place. a nice simple `02 1150 GSA with no servos or abs, a years full AUB warantee and breakdown just in case and no worries about having a £1000 bill for brake failiures in the furture.

As said many times get a 1150 GSA in silver you wont be sorry :)

Some praise for Aprilia

Can't really help on your choice, bar the fact I've had my 1150 non ADV for about 6 weeks and put a thousand miles on it and love it, the handling is so much better than you'd think, looking at it. Before this I had a Tuono for 2 years and a Falco for 2 years before that. Both my Aprilias never missed a beat, had better than Honda build quality and were fantastic. I sold the Tuono as I wanted to slow things down a bit after a friend got badly hurt, not because of any faults with the bike. Sorry, just wanted to show the other side of the Aprilia coin.

One thing I did find with the GS is that it took a fair few miles to adjust to it, and I did think I'd made a mistake at first, but once you're used to it it's great (probably don't need to say that on this forum!). Build quality seems a lot lower than Aprilia though, at least they've always used s/s fasteners!
