Guys,
Just looking at a 14 plate R1200GS TE - it has a BMW satnav bar & mount fitted and the wheel on the left hand grip that apparently connects to the satnav mount - no satnav included though.

Question > which satnavs fit the BMW mount ? Is it a Zumo 660 ? Does the wheel thing work with it, or do I need a BMW satnav for that ?

Thanks
John

BMW Satnav for the wheel to do stuff. Nav V or VI. A Nav IV may also work. OTOH, a 660 may well fit and charge, but not integrate with the wheel.

660 fits the cradle and recieves power but has no connectivity with the wheel

The Garmin BMW Nav series devices provide functionality through the jog wheel from the Nav 4 onwards. However, the 4 is pretty old hardware and with the latest maps feels a little sluggish. You'll also miss out on all the bike data read directly from the bike that you get with the 5 onwards. Nav 6 is the next step "forward" from the 5 with a larger glossy screen and a few extra features but beware there are a lot of ppl on this forum that have upgraded and had lots of issues with the 6 that they didn't experience with the 5. However, there are an equal number of die hard Garmin fans on here too that will defend the device to their dying breath. Pays yer money and makes yer choice but make sure it has a 5 in it. :thumb

Decent review of the Nav 5 by MissendenFlyer here

TomTom rider loads better as a navigation device but the integration to the bike and wheel make the bmw the best overall device. Especially when set up to have a Speedo reading full size for camera heavy areas.
