Which Shock Absorber is Best?

This is why I recommended it john. It keeps the shock completely clean. Great for me as the cost of the shocks was a tad scary and I wanted to protect them. And as i said means removal of the rear crud catcher is the obvious plus. It's only worth considering if you never go off road. I don't.

My bike has the rear crud sprayer already removed and has a Remus can so both those areas are already covered

Any thoughts on plastic v carbon fibre ones, being that they're about £105 / £155 respectively. I usually only go off road unintentionally

I have Fournales front and rear on my donkey,and they've been on there for about 140,000 miles.I saw the back one about two months ago,and it still looed like new.

I don't go in for all this bolox of adjustable everything,because unless you are riding round and round a track where you can set them up properly,it's a complete waste of time,and besides that,most people don't know their arse from their elbow when it comes to suspension,so you can ignore 99% of what you read on tinternet.

I put 29bar in my back one when I put it on about 6 years ago,and as far as I know,it's all still there.

The only down side I can think of with them,is that if the seal goes pop,then you're bugggered,well and truley,no spring to ride home on(but I'm a brave bunny)

Succinct and to the point as always. This man deserved listening too. But for pre-load when riding with pillion I agree two turns does the trick...

Open the box and look what arrived. Yep Neil I just spent another lump, you cant take it with you tha knows, those floorboards of yours will burst one day

Will let you know how I go on, hope to fit them this weekend. Think the cap will be staying in the box though. I read somewhere that Hyperpro actually make a lot of parts for Wilbers not sure if thats true?

i thought that too, but it only fits one way as its a tapered fit

rang calsport and explained but was told thats the way as the gs needs its ''heavy'' load at the bottom of its range due to loads etc.

so is it wrong?

totally agree, a refurbed standard showa is far superior to a 50 thou knackerd showa
and to be honest not many of us here would ever benefit or know the difference to a high end price shock and mid range price shock.

controversial i know, but its more pose value than need value.

Hi, after nearly a year (unexpected rebuild of final drive, and paralever/swingarm taking priority) I have orderd/recieved and fitted a set of Wilbers blueline shocks from Everyaccessory. The build quality seems really good, they have transformed my bike, they look a lot smarter than the original Showa set too. Thanks for all the info Everyone

what about WP or fournales or technoflex ? anyone got any info on them ?

I've got a WP rear on my 850 and am very pleased with it, so much so that when the front needed replacing earlier this year I tried to gat a WP front. WP have now moved their production to Austria from Holland, I guess to be nearer KTM, but at the time I ordered they were in something of a turmoil and had a large volume of work backing up, basically to cut a long story short I couldn't get a WP front, so bought a Wilbers (Strong, to match my Tosseresque frame) and have been very happy with it.

Most of my riding is solo and on the equivalent of B roads.

After 80k on the original shocks (which still felt fine to me), I bit the bullet, ordered the Wibers, and 2 weeks later, fitted both in about 40mins working alone (first time doing this).

What an amazing difference! Loaded the panniers and top-box and set off for a 4 day trip around Cornwall/Devon. It was smiles all the way. The Wilbers really transformed the bike, without making any adjustments to them. Fantastic friendly service from the lads at the Wilbers agent near Birmingham too. Highly recommended.

I doubt it was the fact you fitted wilbers that made all the difference.

I expect it was the fact your old shocks were worn out and fitting anything would have made a difference.
