Which Spark Plug?

Have any of you had experience using these spark plugs - BRISK DOR14LGS Spark Plug? Are they as good as they claim? and what of the 4.5k short service life?

They were originally.. and still are to a certain extent, marketed as a 'cure' for surging.

No.. never used them. when my first GS 'surged' was due to it being incorrectly set up. Once that was sorted.. the need for any of these supposed cures disappeared.

btw.. they're rather expensive on the ebay site you linked to. they are £11.75 from motorworks. But I'll bet they don't sell many. When the OEM plugs do the job for less than half the price. and for longer.

Tried nearly the all over the years including Brisk. I now use Autolite's off eBay and they are one of the cheapest and seem fine. If you search for plugs on the forum you will find a couple of threads which basically say "doesn't matter"... One of the blokes at M/works said they only stocked 'em 'cos people kept asking...

yup, used them on mine, went on a tour to the black sea with them in, no trouble in 8000 miles with them, looked good as new every time i checked em...
i can say the same about iridium ngk,s too,
not tried anything else

I put a set in about 3 years ago, every time I service the bike (every 3K-4k) I take them out, they look fine so I put them back in. So that's about 15k-16k they have done now.
When I first put them in they did help with a surging problem I had, but that was before I learnt how to set the valves correctly, so the surging may have been my own fault.

By the way, mine is a single spark 1150. (2000)

I put in the NGK Iridiums. After 33,000 miles they were still ok but were beginning to look very corroded. I changed them at the weekend thinking they were the cause of a backfire that's cropped up. I was wrong. They would have lasted longer. I bet I've emptied the garage bin too so I can't reclaim them.

At £10.70 each they were a bit of a shock to the system.

Nice to see that some people have good experience with NGK Iridiums. There was a lot opposite opinion on Advrider forum. Having allready bought them it wasn´t very nice to read how quick those stop working. After all those costs only 17.90€ each. For once i´m happy i have single spark model.

here at me shop i sell nippon denso plugs and tbh they is good i use them meself and sofar no issues..

yes there work ,but so does nippon denso as my r34 skyline with 650bhp
runs fine for 4 years and 21,000miles
so its down to cost or as we ride bmw its down to setting up t/bodies ,vavales and end float ,then picking the plugs
you need to do all about first .
and then look at fuel filter as so many gs 11xx come to my work shop with oem filters and oem pipe clippers ,

so my 10pence worth done

Yep. All that has to be done. Except fuel filter chance as it has been carried out in 60tkm service by BMW dealer. All the other stuff has been done also but after reading all these forums it seems like it hasn´t been done properly.

Iwouldent trust dealers to change fuel filters, lot of work and difficult to tell if the' ve been changed or not!.

I tried Brisk plugs in my R1150RS OK for the first 100 miles but useless once I got stuck in London traffic.

Since then EON2 in the 'RS and the 'S - brilliant! I would now not use anything else.

I am lucky as the cheapest plugs have worked best for me.... eBay Autolites. Man from M/works say "only stock XXXX 'cos asked fer 'em so much".

The most important bit is the set up....
