Which tyres should I get?

Have the PR4 Trail on a Hex Head and they are spectacular!

The Anakee 3's are in short supply due to Michellin moving factory's and a peak in demand over the winter

I am riding a 2008 GSA and went from Battlewings to Tourance followed by Dunlop TR91's (which were the best of the three by far). Needed new tyres and had a serious think about how I had been riding for the past five years and to be honest all on road with the very occasional dry hard trail. Fitted PR4 Trails last week and really impressed with them. Very planted all surfaces and the bike rides much smoother. I did consider the Anakee 3 but am glad I have gone for the PR4. Think hard about what type of riding you do really.

Safe riding, Sam

I was out over the weekend and put 250 miles on the new PR4. My initial thoughts are:

The bike felt slipperier - hard to explain what I mean...the bike felt like it wanted to drop in to turns much faster. I don't think I needed to apply as much pressure to turn in and once it started to turn, it dropped in quickly. A few times that caught me out by making my turn much tighter than I had planned.

The other thing I noticed immediately was the ride comfort...the ride was harder!
There is less absorption of changes in the road than with the Anakees. Where the Anakees seemed to soak up some of the crumbling road surface, the PR4 transmitted every irregularity to my @rse. I even tried changing the ESA to Soft, but all that did was make the ride wallowy.

It will be interesting to see if these are things I adapt to, or whether they soften up as I rack up the miles on the tyres.

Hi, I have a brand new Set of PR4`s for a 1200LC which are now not needed (got them for a mate!) as they arrived late. For sale £200 including carriage. Ring me on 07831341217 Den

That's what happens with all new tyres to a greater or lesser extent. Even a tyre half-worn, when replaced by a new one (back or front) - gives you an immediate feeling of "blimey - these turn in a lot quicker" (more so with pure road tyres)

We'll see how they feel after a long weekend coming up. I can adapt to the turn in, but I'll have to see how I get on with the harsher ride and whether that softens up with a few miles on them.

they definatley turn in a lot quicker i can't any more yet as i have only been to work on my bike since i got them fitted

Folks, can I ask what tyre pressures you are using on your PR4's? Agree ride does seem harder than my previous TR91,s, Dunlop recommended 36/42 solo on those, Michelin just say use BMW recommended pressures for my GSA which are 32/36 solo (I use ESA normal setting most of the time)? Thanks.

Well, I'm now in the market for a new rear tyre, after picking up a nail at 1700 miles.:blast:blast:blast

With a couple of trips coming up, as reliable as a plug is, I don't want to take the risk. Anakee 3's are in short supply, and I'm off in a couple of weeks, so need to explore my options. Tourance Next is not an option, and I need something that will cope with fire tracks occasionally, but mainly road.

What are my options?

Nutty, you are going to the Dolomites, to hoon awesome roads on your awesome steed. Maybe maxing it out down the autobahn, too. Any available road tyre will do you.... Even up those fire trails.

Here's some handy tips before you go....

Tourances. They are black. They are round. I didn't have to pay extra for either option.
