I am thinking of buying a larger windscreen for my 2006 F650GS Dakar (I am 6'3" and get buffeted around quite a bit at motorway speeds with the standard windscreen).

With a bit of web research this ztechnick one below seems to be OK, found a couple of positive reviews.
BMW F650GS 2005-2007 Vstream Tall Touring Windscreen Z2413

However, I have read that some screens are not compatible with the Dakar model with handguards as they interfere with the handguards when the handlebars are fully turned on a tight corner.

Anyone fitted this screen to a Dakar model, any comments?
Any other recommendations for screens for my bike?

I had a c-baileys tall screen on my Dakar. It was great for street use, fairly good protection, bit narrow in the mid section so your arms and shoulders get wind blast but my head was always fairly well protected. Transformed the bike when compared to the stubbie stock screen. No experience of the Z-Tecnik screen.

Steer clear of the Puig option. I was very dissappointed when I fitted one of these to Sarah Teach's bike.
I've been looking for a standard Dakar screen since to fit to it.....

I've used a Wunderlich Ergo which is a massive improvement over the stock screen. They do a couple of different heights and with/without handguard options. Not cheap but I believe the Isotta screens are identical. There's a fairly extensive post about them over at F650.co.uk. :thumb2

+1 for the wunderlich Ergo great screen here it is fitted to my silver f650gs.

My brother has the taller isotta screen fitted to his yellow f650gs not cut for handguards.A fair bit cheaper than the wunderlich and is identical.

You will in the pics that my screen is cut out for the handguard and is the smaller of the 2 heights available from wunderlich.

Got the Isotta on '03 GS (not Dakar) with handguards and fits fine, good quality with Light tint, transforms bike for longer journeys and only £70 delivered off fleabay. Will be selling my bike once the better weather comes so might be open to offers, GIVI pannier rails also available soon!! :flag

I've got the Isotta tall screen on mine. Slight contact at full lock, but no problems with that. I do have bar risers as well.

I'm 6'1" and get no buffetting at all, I love it. Not sure how it affects speed or mpg.

What I eventually went for ...

Thanks for all the posts, appreciated!

I eventually bought the ZTechnik VStream Tall screen from Custom Cruisers. It makes a huge difference at higher speeds and I can definitely recommend it. Motorway riding is now much, much more pleasant.

One unexpected, but positive, consequence is that because you need fit the mirror extenders, the mirrors on the bike are in a much better position (for me anyway and rear vision is improved as well).

Isotta screen for F 650 GS from 2004 and on

Hi there

be careful when you choose your screen for your F 650 GS 2006,
because there are 2 types of screen with and without hand protectors mounted on the bike.

The isotta screen is larger and taller one you might find a good solution.
I was redirected from Isotta srl staff to one Austrian dealer Euroe-com Trading GmbH. Their site is www.euronetbike.net and found my screen with 2 opsions:

if the bike has already mounted hand protectors then the part number is SC939
SC939.jpg

if the bike doesn't have mounted hand protectors then the part number is SC937
SC937.jpg

Hope helps my answer

cheers Jon
