Have a look on an auction site to see what past bottles have gone for; I recently sold 40 bottles in one auction. The results were surprising; stuff I thought would make good money didn’t do as well as expected and the cheaper stuff made much more than expected.

Most auction houses will also give you a free valuation based on historical sales.

Whats the age of the suntory?

It has no age statement so of little value, but it is a nice drinking whiskey at the right price, if it was a Habiki 12 yr old for eg it would be in the region of £200. I recently sold one at auction for £190.

The Port Ellen and Dallas Dhu are the big ticket items there; however they are devalued as they are not bottlings direct from the distillery. The spirit is from the distilleries as it says on the box but they are independent bottlings by other companies. If they were direct from the distillery of source they would be worth £Ks.

The Provenance is still listed for sale on some sites at £1300 to £1500 therefore at auction or private sale you would be looking at £800-900.

As an example, I sold a 1979 Port Ellen “Rare and Old” bottling by Gordon Mcphail at auction in May this year and it only made £820, after commission etc I got £770.

No real need to sell them tbh.Just thought id get them all out to see how they'd increased in value really.
All gone up so decided to try on here.
Can just as easy be forgotten about for a good while again.
The more of these that are consumed can only help the values of these,no more in production and hasn't been for many years.
Need to find some Russian Oligarchs who like to throw several hundred £s on a single measure for all their mates.

Slightly off track, but I wish you well in your selling of your bottles of whisky.
I'd show you a bottle of 'Bonnie Prince Charlie whisky' which was purchased in Morocco, some years ago - which somehow was not noticed by the Border guards as we moved into the dry Islamic Republic of Mauritania. We had two bottles, the first was opened and tasted. The second was not because the conclusion of the drinkers of the first was it really only was good for degreasing engines.
p.s. I'm not a whisky drinker and therefore no nothing about whisky value - but stories bring value to our conversations.

Collectable unopened bottles sell for much more to a collector than the rare opened ones!....
Very much like a vintage Rolex having had new parts fitted by Rolex!,a collector wouldn't want it.

Thankfully there are collectors of anything and everything.Whisky is up there as a very Collectable commodity.
Worse case scenario I drink them with friends,best case I find a place to sell (When Im desperate)which will be never,and get what someone is prepared to pay for a rare bottle.
And finally just find someone local and say hey heres 4 nice bottles of Whisky.....give me 3k.
All 3 are wins for me considering my initial purchase price.

They do buy and they do put sellers & buyers in contact with each other too. You might just get a realistic appraisal of your whisky’s value too.

I am aware of the places I could sell them.
Not that fussed at all tbh to proceed that route......yet.
Like watches its better to sell privately,dealers are like all dealers.

Oh its worth X,then when selling its worth XX plus a huge amount more!!.
All after saying its not worth anywhere close to what you think its worth now!.
A buyer walks in,and they tell them everyone is looking for it and a great investment!!.
So as said not fussed.
One chap on here did get in touch re a birth year Whisky.
I replied with the price,and again asking if interested still.

NO reply!!!.
