DockGate 20....

After reading so many posts on here ref DockGate 20 I decided to pay it a visit after collecting my HID from Southampton....so what was so special about this Gate...did not see anything out of the ordinary.....although I did find a Harley Davidson Motorcycle dealership, had a wander round there and they made this very nice bacon buttie....one thing I did notice was the different life style to that of a BMW dealership...more of a vibrant atmosphere...quite enjoyed it....thought about a change of life style... ....after giving myself a good slap rode of on my GS....

that was for me, was on a blue/white one, you know the fastest one, saw the HP2 parked assumed it was yours...will say hello next time.....

Visiting an HD dealership on a regular basis is toying with ...."the dark side".

First they offer you a "free" test ride.... then start to hook you in slowly, slowly...... the easy mounting position (no need to throw your hip out trying to mount a GS), the meaty rumble of the engine (as opposed to the sanitised poppery pop of the GS), the "classic" 1940s/1950s look that smacks of easy riding whether off to post a letter or ride round the country (as opposed to the Paris-Dakar gear the GS rider clambers into for every trip), the bacon sarnies (real Danish streaky that).

Then you get back into the fresh air and the HD "mesmer" wears off.

Phew.

Seriously, though, Dock Gate 20 is a good (if sometimes a bit busy) meeting place. It's better to park up somewhere where there aren't Wunderlich, BWM Motorrad and Touratech temptations and where you can have a snigger at the Tight Tassle Tarquins and the V-Rod Vergers on their days off.

still had a nice cuppa and checked out a rather un'HD HP2 outside

that pearl white chop by the cafe is sweeeeeeeet also liked the all black one with the supertrapp pipes for £16.5k iirc

i must be getting old cos i thought the honda SP2 in castrol colours looked wank

Most of my mates have HDs, one day perhaps. But couldn't do the comic black open face helmet & black wrap round shades look.

I think less is more, have to be black (fastest) stainless fastners, fat 16/17" front tyre, ditch the std. indicators.

Or a Road King.
