Labour can be depended upon to bankrupt Scotland just as the Bliar/Broon effectively did for the UK as a whole. They doubled government spending in real terms during there combined administrations. We'll all be paying for that profligate waste for years to come.

Scottish Conservatives are unelectable, an utterly useless and pathetic collection of non achieving nonentities. A shame as they should be the party that represents the business sector/self employed that create the wealth in any country.

Lib-Dems, some good policies and a pragmatic approach to power sharing that should IMO be commended but too closely allied to the total government control and the tax and spend policies of Labour.

Sadly, as the Greens aren't worthy of consideration, and all bar one of the rest are bit players, realistically that only leaves the SNP. I don't believe that Scotland will be better off independent in Europe than it is as part of the UK. The UK has little enough clout as it is, solo Scotland would be so insignificant as to be virtually unheard and invisible. Such a great country, that has so many high achieving sons and daughters, deserves better.

I will probably change the habit of a lifetime and vote for the gurnning gnome and his band. I'd be happier if they dumped Sturgeon who is a liability and seems more concerned with supporting criminals than nurses.

Still, my opinion doesn't count too much as I'm not a son of Alba I just choose to live here and contribute my tiny wee bit to the success of the country.

'Bliar/Broon'

aye Packer - if ye drap the first letter o' the first name it sums the warmongering american arse lickin' *********** exactly.
Aye and ye see, in this world, whaur bein' wan gets ye'.

Phuckin' place needs a guid clean oot o' politcians.

Hell's teeth yev got me started noo. whaurs the Bunnahabhain:jager

Just bear this in mind.

When Wee Eck gets back in, as he unfortunately will, and then pushes for independence, which he no doubt will, then if it comes about, the first thing non Scottish firms/companies etc will do is move out rapido. The countries economy will be even more fecked.

Also it will hammer the final nail in the coffins of the Keep the RAF in Moray/Keep RAF Leuchars campaigns. The Westminster government will not wish to keep bases in "a foreign country" open.
Fortunately the Navy's OK, 'cos there's no viable alternative deep water berths in GB for the Nukes to hide in. That's why the Gareloch was chosen all those years ago.

Independence my arse!!!!!!

I am all in favour of anything that reduces the levels of government I have to pay for however that is achieved. I don't care if it is the abolition of local authorities, the Scottish parliament or through independence. I just want to pay for less politicians and all their back room staff.

What I can't get my head round is independence in Europe that is the battle cry of the SNP. What is the point of dumping interference in Scottish affairs from London and embracing interference from Brussels. If Scotland is to be independent then lets be independent of them all.

Scotland has a population of just over 5 million. To run that we apparently need 129 MSPs 59 MPs and 6 MEPs. Then there are 1222 local councillors. That's 1416 paid representatives

New York City has a population of just over 8 million and gets by with a state governor and a City mayor, 2 senators,(for the whole of New York state) 28 members of the house of representatives (for the whole of New York state) and 51 council members (for New York City) Thats 83 paid representatives

There are currently much needed programmes to cut back on public expenditure that always end up cutting nurses or street sweepers and never the politicians. Lets get a grip of this crazy situation. Instead of electing who should fill the 129 seats in the parliament we should be debating which half of the 129 seats to get rid of altogether then vote for who should get the rest. Then fight for independence from London and Europe with the second item on the agenda being the root and branch reform of local government.

Sounds like you've read the labour scare manifesto :comfort
Hopefully they will take the nukes away and we will not be funding them.:thumb2
As we have paid for the army raf and the navy no doubt we have a share of it :augie

'Scottish firms/companies etc will do is move out rapido. '

Ron, what the hell do you think the Southern seated government has been doing since the early sixties (and maybe even earlier) and still doing.

Car industry, ship building, jobs in general and now threatening us with losing 'our' forces bases.

They tempted the best we had down south with big wages and did a 'Langshanks' 'Prima Nocte' toward the Scottish jobs.

No,all we ask for is a chance to be recognised in the world. It'll be up to us now.

Negative thought will not build a country.

Business would be better off as the big slice of tax going to Westmister would be gone.
