I use Vario Panniers and Top Box, and it certainly is not enough space for two-up crap hauling ;)

What I'd like is some sort of bag that could be plopped on top of the top case - with pockets that hang down the side of the case - obviously strapped on. Bit like those hump bags that fit on and hang down the side of the seat on some bikes.

Guess it would only be used for bulky though light items because of its location - but would be ideal for wets, thermals and other soft stuff that need to be handy - take up room but don't screw with the weight distribution too much.

Anyone know who / where such stuff can be made?

I'd try a chandlers or sail maker who will no doubt be able to come up with something water proof and designed to suit sir...

There's one local, but I can't find their web site at the moment, maybe tomorrow when the mind is clearer...

Try a change of location. Have you looked at the TT and Famsa tank bag setup's? They both offer tank bags with additional tank-side panniers/bags.

Better place to carry extra weight IMO and the side bags are quite generous in size. TT and Wundlich also do bags that sit on top of the panniers which might help too.

Alternatively give Civil a shout. His panniers will easily double your carrying space, without appearing overly big. You'd get near £400 for the vario panniers on flea-bay too :thumb

Thanks Val - but on both counts I'm looking for something a little more flexible.

I have a BMW Tank Bag I like and want to keep. I've had tank panniers in the past and they end up as just a stuff space - getting all the junk that I forgot about earlier.

No I think something over the top box might just be the answer!

Sail makers might have the kit to knock something up but I really need the kind of material that soft pannier makers would use - with the strapping and Velcro and all.

Why not look at putting some "Tank Panniers" on at the front end.

Check out the Aerostich website and search "Tank Panniers".

I have them on an 1100 and they are great for low down heavy stuff like tools or for easy access to what ever you need.

I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous response...

Thanks Wadham - been there done that (just last week as it happens) but I'm looking for something a little more 'fitted'.

Don't BMW make a waterproof bag that "click" fits and locks onto their pannier lids.

I've got one of their waterproof bags ( fantastic quality), but not their panniers. I've thought of attaching the small bmw brackets that are on their panniers and attaching them to my vern panniers so i can use the bag as it's used on the BMW's

I'm a firm believer in "quality" & that's why Bespoke have the name. I will pay for "quality" but don't try to pass anything less....;)
