2003 1150gs, 70k miles, no servo issues from new. yet, anyway...
Anyone had a brake and clutch fluid change on a 2002 ABS GS 1150 A ?
The dealership quote daft money for this procedure.
I'd thought of doing it myself but I'm told and have read its a PITA due to the ABS system.
As an 02 your is a single spark gs and therefore non-servo?
Brake and clutch fluid change is easy. Brakes-bleed from the calipers in the normal way, job done. On mine I do it every year and every two years also bleed from the ABS unit under the tank, which is just bleed nipples.
Thanks for that. Never done a system bleed with abs before .
Do I bleed from the abs unit first ? Filling the reservoir as I go in the time honoured way, then move down to the callipers as per a none abs system ?
Is it just one bleed nipple on the abs unit or one for the front and one for the rear ?
The clutch fluid IS dot 4

Yes, ABS unit first and you will find one for the front, one for the rear on the unit. Bleed in the usual way just as you say, moving on to the calipers after.
You can just bleed from the calipers without touching the ABS unit as the fluid goes through this on the way to the calipers, but a tiny amount of old stuff can be left behind in the ABS unit, so worth doing if they havent been bled for a while. As its such an easy job I change the fluid every year via the calipers and every 2 years via the ABS unit then calipers.
