Why doesn't Mapsource recognise Polish names?

I am having difficulty locating Polish "Cities" on Mapsource.

I know that City Navigator doesn't give good coverage of Poland, but there are still hundreds of Polish towns and cities shown on Mapsource, but when you use the Find toolbar, I never get a result - even when typing in the names for cities which I can see eg Krakow. :nenau

Mapsource doesn't cover Poland according to Garmin, thats why you can't search for the cities even if you can see the name of the city. I had the same problem.

So how did you get over this problem? I have contacted a Polish Company through the garmin website, who produce Garmin compatible maps of Poland, which looks promising but nothing ordered yet.

Thinking about it, I understand you can quite legally load borrowed maps onto a computer, although without an unlock code you cannot download those maps to the GPS unit. At this stage as I only need the maps for marking waypoints (bit difficult when you can't even find the city) route planning etc, is there anyone out there who knows where I can borrow Garmin compatible maps of Poland ?

Seems odd i have v7 of mapsource and can get a map of Poland in detail ?
i havent tried transfering any but they are there
Give me some place names and i will try and find them

The only way I could solve the problem was to find the place on the map without using the search function and put a waypoint. Then you can navigate to the waypoint instead of the name.

This way works but take some time. :(

There are hundreds of names shown on City Navigator V7, but using the "Find" toolbar doesn't work - eg even though Krakow, or Wadowice are shown clear as day, they won't show in a search. I know you have to type the name in as they appear in Polish - quite how this works with the cyrilic alphabet I have no idea.

I assume Algen that you could only use this for planning etc ie and not when on the bike, as the problem I have found is that a number of "cities" I have found on Mapsource, dont show any roads to them.

If you have waypoints with names or know where to find the city on the map, it works OK to find the city with the base map on the Quest and auto-route. I was in the Krakow area and some of the roads that auto-route suggested was very small and twisty. But you can't expect the same accurency on the base map as on the downloaded detailed maps for the rest of europe.
