Lets say while you were fitting the Tour*** hard parts to your '99 GS1100 and quite a large piece of thread pulled out of the M10 subframe mount on the brake side of the bike:blast.........would you consider trying to re-tap it to M11 or even M12 or just start looking for a thread insert aka Helicoil, Timesert etc

helicoil for me everytime, re-bores just compound up the problems!:(

I would helecoil it in order to keep the bolt size the same.

That removes the need to drill out whatever is being attached.

As far as the stripped thread is concerned its 'six of one / half a dozen of the other' as the stripped thread has to be bored oversize and tapped for the insert.

timesert, better than heliciol, it wont pull out again
