why is the GSA twin cam so bloody good!

On Gs's since 2000 x4, my latest is a twin cam 2010 20,000 miles, like a few of you think, hmmm might change it, but then go for a ride come back and think why?

Its just so bloody good

Is it just me?......thoughts?

They are , best of the 5 I have had before , my 2012 twin Cam is Fantastic . The new one will have it's work cut out to be as capable as these bikes are . Longer wait for the adventure as well

I'm still punting around on my 'W' reg 1150 and although very tempted by a very smart 1150 Adv but I keep brousing 1200's

Are the improvment between early 1200's, the later ones and the twin cam as big as they say?

and what would you say they are?

the twin cam is a significantly better machine than the previous 12,s the engine is very very good in the mid range
as regards the 1150 v 12 twincam they are so far apart that there is no comparison

But to change a two year old bike.......My GSA isn't even run in yet..........!

Engine is great and the exhaust is really nice for a GS........Especially the popping on the over run

+1 . Big grin when charging up and down the passes. The bangs on the overrun had me looking in case I caused an avalanche

I honestly expected better things when I tested the twin against the Explorer and CT.
found the suspension brilliant but engine wheezy and asthmatic by comparison.
Bought the CT as triumph finish was crap.

I think you're in the minority. The twin cam is definitely not wheezy.

After several "trailie" style bikes I gave in and test rode a GS twin cam, then bought one straight away. It is a fantastic bike by any standards, and a world away from the GS 1150 I tested a few years ago (bought a Tiger 955 after that test ride) whenever I ride it I just don't want stop.

Everything is relative

We all ride the best bike we can for the money we want to spend.

I am on my 4th GS in 5 years, 1 GS and 3 GSA's to me they are all differant bikes, went to an RT for 6 months but back to a GSA last month.

some will prefer the CT, some the EXP or the S10 but for me the GSA does everything i want at the speed i want, sorted

PS i hated the 1150 when i test rode them

That's a bit scary as I'm looking at getting an 1150 GSA.

twin cam is in my humble opinion a improvement on my 08 1200gs but it is not massively better and after i fitted remus de-cat headers and end can to my bike i no longer felt the twin cam was a must have, but thought i would get one anyway because i knew the new water cooled bike would be shit....well think was a bit wrong there because it looks like it will make other bikes in the large adventure class pointless, but do like that v-strom 1000 concept.

My 2011 GSA has now done 17k miles and it's engine has become vibe free and has some serious punch - especially when you wind it up. Love it. Far better then my previous 1200 GSA and my 1150.
