why is the GSA twin cam so bloody good!

I've had my twin cam 6 months my first GS I've done 4500 miles and love it, coming from sports bikes.

The twin cam is excellent, 26,000 miles in 29 months and I am very happy with it, i t does it all very, very well BUT I have a sneeking suspicion that the new one is going to be even better so I placed my deposit and depending on how it rides I have one in the spring :D

Thanks for the replies guy's...I think it will be intresting for me if BMW throw everything at the last of the twin cam Adventure's before the WC Adventure. Maybe a one off colour too like on the 1150 SE:thumb2

I came from a blackbird to a twin cam and love it its not as fast or as powerful but is any of this type of bike? if you want speed or power your buying the wrong type of bike.

What I love is the ride quality down the single lane back roads and the punchy engine giving its best at sensible speeds where the blackbird was just clearing its throat at 130mph and getting it to its swing at 150mph.

Well maybe in isolation but if you step off the other two you will find it just doesnt have the same punch. Horses for courses etc :thumb2

When Bike tested the twin cam against the Triumph Explorer they the GS had more punch, especially in the top gear roll on from 40 to 120mph.

On Gs's since 2000 x4, my latest is a twin cam 2010 20,000 miles, like a few of you think, hmmm might change it, but then go for a ride come back and think why?

Its just so bloody good

Is it just me?......thoughts? :rob

Because it is an careful evolution of a 1993 R1100RS.....

Or a Fashionista's tarted R1150GS, which was a careful evolution of a 1993 R1100RS.....

well if a journo said it then...... :blast

But you're comparing an 8 year old model with a brand new competitor with more power:blagblah When the new WC is launched, you'll see a flux of used Hondas and Triumphs hit the market, mark my words:rob:comfort

Well i would expect the new WC to put up a better fight for sure. It felt like an 8yr old bike - thats why I bought a brand newly developed bike :beerjug:

But you said you "found the suspension brilliant". And the eight year old bike is holding its own against the "newly developed" competition very well. So it looks like you have contradicted yourself by saying it felt like an eight year old bike. How could it if you said the suspension was "brilliant"?

The suspension is brilliant. It was in the engine dept where the competition decimated it.

Why so touchy ffs???

Have you ridden all three in one day??? I have.
