Why are the 1150 boys reading this 1200 section only to tell us how crap the 1200 is & will never sell the 1150
I have the 1200 because its not like the 1150 & love it ,have had no problems with it & if i do i am sure my very good dealer will sort it

We should console ourselves in the fact that when most of the 1150 crowd have moved up to the 1200 we will all be swaning around on the new (and brilliant GS1250) ya bo sucks to them

Its a shame isnt it. The noise to signal ratio isnt favourable. I dont come here enough now to worry much.

Maybe I should be 'monitoring' the other forums and giving them some useful 'advice' but like all good 1200 riders I have better things to do like enjoy my bike and enjoy reading about others enjoying their's...whatever creed or colour.

But you know guys, its hard at the cutting edge and being one of life's innovators

If you cant afford to change up, its only natural to knock the new bike

When I first started looking at GS's there only was the 1150. Ironically, I was warned off one by an owner on the basis of the known final drive / clutch problems. He reckoned the 1100 he had was "the one".

Truth to tell, the bike to have is the one you can buy a year after intro when the maker has sorted the teething probs. So there are lots of problem 1150, 1100, 100 , 80 etc out there.

I read all threads because I find them interesting & there are some common issues.

The 1200GS isn't crap, it IS different & it's actually rather good - I found out over a year ago when I first test rode one, having had one on order since Jan 04. But despite being faster, lighter, handling better, better gearbox etc it just didn't do it for me so I decided to stick with my 1150GS ... for the time being.

One problem area all the later ABS GS's has is the servo brakes - my late 02 model included (thought they have improved the feel considerably on the 1200) So I've decided to swap now in the theory that I'd rather have no ABS than no (aka residual) brakes - no, not for a non ABS 1200 but for an 1150 GSA while I still can - I know it's heavier & slower (& more expensive "birdseye") - but for now it's still the bike for me, even though there's many things about the 1200 I like.

I have many 1200 riding friends (would be difficult not to now there's so many of them about!) & would never think of criticising their steeds - they enjoy them & that's what it's all about - that we ALL enjoy what we ride IS what it's all about.

So you probably now can see that not ALL the 1150 riders reading this section just want to slag off your bikes, & I'm sure that the majority feel as I do in terms of enjoyment. I think a lot of the "slagging off" is just the normal banter you get between all bikers in fun i.e. "what did you buy that heap of sh~t for .... should have got a.... like me. However you'll always get some numpty who likes to slag everything off - & they're the ones that usually answer such threads - because they love to criticise, unfortunately rarely constructively.

So dont get upset about it "ktmmark" ride & enjoy - I shall - go to pick up my new 1150 GSA today

Sure there have been and there are problems with the 12GS. Its another occasional claim of the critics that we seem to be in denial over this. I'm not. If I get problems I'll make a rational judgement on whether my enjoyment of the bike is worth the hassle. Personally i think thats another facet that some find hard to handle.

As said above, yes, theres a lot of banter in the biking world. Unfortunately some individuals seem to have a little too much vitriol underlying their banter.
Why, I don't know. I can think of plenty of reasons, but that woudl only be speculation and I'd rather just 'get along'
