Front and rear Wilbers for my 07 1200 GSA arrived today (only nine days since ordering from Every Accessory - top service). They're 50mm lower than standard, so I will have to shorten side and centre stands. Any tips before I wield the angle grinder and then start hunting for a welder to borrow!

Pity I have no chance of fitting them in time for Lumb Farm.

Thanks

Dave

I'd not worry too much about not having them for this weekend, as they take a few miles to settle in anyway, so might not have been at their best.

I have normal length Wilbers, and they are a teeny bit higher than stock I suspect.

You will need to do something with the centre stand I suspect, but would suggest you try the side stand as is first, as quite a lot of people seem to fit something onto the sidestand to stop the bike leaning so much.

wouldn't having shorter shocks mean that the bike wouldn't lean as much?

I would expect so, but I wondered if the shorter shocks might gave the same angle as a sidestand extender and normal shocks?

make a wedge, out a short bit of 3x2, or 3x1 depending how much the shocks have changed the height, make the wedge bit about 3 inches long, leaving a flat bit 4-6 inches long, wheel the rear wheel onto the wedge, before putting the centre stand on, then there is no need to modify the centre stand, will give you time to source a lower standard centrestand :augie

had thew same shocks put on my 1200gs and u don't need to alter the sidestand it just stands a bit more upright..........but no hassle...centre stand is a bit of a bugger to use but if your a feller u should have no hassle gettin the bike on it....

the shocks are fitted on the piccy below.....and u can see it sits ok on the sidestand

How much were the full set of lowered shocks, if you don't mind me asking ?

round about 700.00 for the 2 shocks...
depends on which rear shock you order...and if you fit the hydraulic pre-load or not..
the front has only one choice and thats about £340
the rear you can spend about the same or you can end up with a fully adjustable shock with hydraulic pre-load which runs at about £640 or so..
you get 10% off if you are a member of this forum with Every accessory...;)

Thinking of doing the same with the shocks. As I find the stock ones a bit harsh and bouncy round the bends no matter what setting I have.

Are they any good?

Cheers in advance.

I'm impressed theres a thread about it somewhere...
IMHO well worth the money, even Mrs Funners can tell the difference on the back....;)
