Wilbers ESA

The Wilbers on my brother's Aprilia took a few hundred miles to settle. BMW should be no different.
I was out today on mud/gravel/grass strewn back lanes on my worn out road tread rear tyre. It was a bit rough going so cranked the ESA to full mountain soft mode. It just floated over the stuff & what a hoot.
So yes ESA and tall suspension does have its place on a bike ghat lives on road. Can't wait for the TKC-70s to arrive.

I've just ordered a standard height set for mine. Have yours settled down yet or is it still taller than before?
There not to bad on single player normal mode ,only done maybe 400 miles since fitting so early days yet I just need to get some more miles in....
One of the things that's impressed me most with the wesa is the comfort factor ie .ride for longer between stops ,so early in the season I can go 2 hours no probs before gettin any hint of numb bum.....:thumb2

The Wilbers on the Aprilia Pegaso is so smooth you'd swear the tyre is flat but then it corners amazingly well. Only negative is the none adjustable forks are no where close in quality to the back end.

Had my WESA units fitted yesterday at Revs and have to echo the OP's comments regarding quality and service. I was a little sceptical about whether any difference would be down to new vs old but was told when I picked it up the old shocks were tired but hadn't gone. It feels better than new now. I haven't played with the settings yet but solo&comfy has me convinced already. The difference in ride quality is on par with getting it custom mapped (PCV not hilltop). I'm really looking forward to Cadwell this week now.

Just replaced mine through a supplier in Germany, £800?

Is that a ride in, ride out service or just the cost of the shocks? I suspect most people with a manual and a set of tools (and time) could swap over a set of non ESA shocks but swapping the electrics and servos on a WESA setup?, no thanks

I've had my front shock out. It's a big job. The rear shock is easier to get at.
I didn't touch the preload hydraulics as it seems to be under pressure.
So with instructions and tools I might be able to swap over the dampers and springs but how much do the tools cost(?) all with no experience and effectively no warranty for when I F it up.
The cost of ride in ride out installation starts to look ever more of a bargain.

That included "mating" my units to the new shocks. Ordered the shocks got an email when they were in stock. UPS to German on Monday arrived Germany Wednesday ready for collection Wednesday PM, actually collected Thursday AM and delivered on the Tuesday after the bank holiday.

More than enough instructions here for removing shocks http://www.touratech-usa.com/Adventure/Blog/jaBhoa/How-To-BMW-R1200GS-Adventure-Shock-Installation removing/re installing the electrical connections was straight forward.
