Just wandering if any one on here knows the spring rates they are using on the wilburs rear shock and the weight of You and kit.

I was in Morocco last year and i kept getting a banging going over deep ruts as if the shock was bottoming out. I'm 80 kilos and the spring on mine is a 150, that accounts for a bit of extra luggage on top.
The thing is i have the large TT fuel tank and i'm not sure what this weighs and probably didn't acomadate for that when the shock was built.
Spoken to revs and he is not sure on the weight of it.

Any one know what you are using please:thumb2

I'll have to check mine. I have a 642 and, whilst it wasn't built for me, the spring is apparently correct for my weight (confirmed when I had it serviced at REVS)

However, the problem for me has also been bottoming out. Adjusting pre-load was not an option unless you took the shock off, so I have to wind the high and low speed compression right in to prevent it (particularly when loaded, and marginally less so when not). I had the pre-load adjusted so there wasn't much static sag, so I guess a variable spring is the next step (if I can be bothered).

Situation made more difficult as my camping gear etc weights in at approx. 25kg, so approx. a 25% increase in weight. How they are meant to cope with a pillion I don't know.

hello, I have a wilbers on my bike, bought mine from Germany from a shop called zietech( who were absolutely crap to deal with, didnt have a clue about the product they sold and sent it well after it was meant to have arrived, do not use them!!).but now its on seems to work well, in hindsight it would have been better to have built a shock myself perhaps with a pds needle. the wilbers seems to be working ok so far but I haven't applied luggage which could be its downfall.
