DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH OVER THE 6,000 MILE MARK I CAN GO (WITHOUT INVALIDATING THE WARRANTY) ON MY 1200GS..?

have a service booked in 10 days or so - but already hit 6,100 miles - prob be up to 6,750 by time of service if i keep riding to / from work..

many thanks.

Steve,
I'm not really sure, but I don't think it will be a problem.
It's not actually 6000 miles it is 10000 klm.
I just bought an ex demo ADV from a dealer & they did the 1000 k (600 mile) service at 797 miles.
But to be sure, why not call your dealer?
Mike.

i did ask my dealer - they said i could go 900 miles over...but...i don't trust a word they say, and they wouldn't give me it in writing.......they're muppets....

i thought there was bound to be someone here who had gone over and can confirm (or poo poo) my dealers "900 miles allowance"

cheers

I was on over 8k before my 6k service...and have had warrenty work done since.

Just be sensible...change oil if much over and check regularly.

I was told 10% over is acceptable. Bear in mind your speedo and therefore, mileage indicator is going to be out by a similar amount too, not a problem really.

Fax them through a note confirming the telephone call with a name individual at a specific time and stating what they told.

Then find another dealer to use in future

Actually the speedo / odo on the 1200 is a lot more accurate than on the older bikes. It rarely disagrees with my GPS by more than 2%.
