Will this be the "new" 1200 GS?

A couple interesting comparisons - scaled on the basis of keeping the rear wheel the same size:

And as to the bike - I think it looks good, but doesn't have the practicality of the GSA or the off-road ability of my HP so not for me. If I wanted a bike to enjoy on Sundays and the occasional weekend, then I imagine it would be a bundle of fun.

And here's a black one as well as a rear quarter shot - don't think much of the size of the panniers...

You might suspect that Ducati's market research tells them otherwise....:nenau

Probably the same market research company that advised Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. Its not like its a brilliant new idea ... Triumph, Buell, even Honda and Suzuki ... every man and his dog makes a big traillie that doesnt really do trails. None of them sell anything like the two big traillies that do do trails from KTM and BMW.

Yet they all must do market research. How meaningful can it be? :nenau

This is what a proper Ducati should look like

I'm sure you're local garage could weld a frame on there to take some nice metal boxes..............!!

The new ducati is just a road bike look-a-like , same as the new Tiger.

However, if ever a bike was going to be the 'New GS' its going to be the 1200 tenere when its released.

If its anything like the 660, that i've just bought, it'll be brilliant.
