Being tall I get a fair bit of buffet at higher speeds. Ive tried all the settings on my 06 model screen but no joy. Any ideas ??
Buy the adventure screen or take the screen off 
There is shed loads on this forum re screens, adjustments, add ons, replacements etc. Lot's of choices. There is no magic answer, just a lot of trial and error to find a solution. I found the Adventure screen with winglets a lot lot better than the GS screen, but it still needs another 3" on top of that to get rid of some buffeting around the top of my helmet. I was going to try the laminar lip which looks a good bet for me. (6'4")

Only ride I've not had wind noise or buffeting was when I took the screen off. Cutting a standard screen down was neither use nor ornament. I'm 6'6" and run an 06 model GS.

If you are over 6ft tall, two things make buffeting (on your head) worse:
1) having the screen on it's tallest setting
2) having a pillion on the back
Two things (without changing the screen or adding to it) make the buffeting less bad on a GS:
1) putting the screen on it's lowest setting (at the expense of slightly more strain on yer neck
2) Bizarrely enough, fitting winglets, especially good when you have a pillion

I m 6'5. I replace my screen with the taller one from Nippy Normans (the one before the tallest).Its better, but only at the one before last adjustment on the higher end).
Since then I have also discovered, that had I not been a cheapskate trying to save a few quid, I should have got the Adv screen in the first place (its over £350 new incl support brackets) which is by far the best and most expensive solution. Esp when its Feb, 1C, dark and its raining icecubes

I'm 6' 6" and have my 1150gs on the highest setting with and extra 1" of spacers. Started out with a tall screen got very little buffeting but get a terrific roar from wind rush on either side above about 70 if I place my hand just close to my elbow it all stops.
I tried a standard screen and the roar stops but the buffeting is there. I've now fitted tobinators and this has pretty much solved the problem unless in cross wind. I'm going to try the tall screen again but with the tobinators. Will let you know!! Has anyone compared the problem between the 1150 and 1200 which is better.

I`ll start off removing the screen , see how I get on. Sounds a nice cheap solution. The lowest setting didn`t help much.
And as for sticking to the speed limit!!!!!! Get back in yer armchair pops

yeah, yeah...
my other suggestion was to become a part-time ejecter seat test pilot, but you'd have trouble reaching the top shelf then lol... well that or duck ;D

You havent said if you have an Adventure or not.I have and keep screen on lowest setting with a Touratech extender,problem solved.I'm 5'10" tall by the way.Also I can now wear my BMW helmet (with the peak) which I couldnt before.Its also good with the visor fully opened,hardly any wind in the face,nice and cool on these hot balmy Barbeque summer days we are experiencing at the moment !!!
Hope it helps.Wouldnt even contemplate removing the screen having had close encounters with pigeons,and once,a bloody great Heron !

Not an adventure, just GS.
After googling a while for the larger screens my minds made up that it aint going to be one of them, I dont like them at all and winglets just look daft!!!
Like some of the other freaks on here I`m 6"5 Maybe I`ll try and test a GSA and see if its any better, good excuse to change out the old for new wouldn`t you say

Another 6ft6 tosser
I'm also a card carrying member of the lanky git club, being a gnats willy shy of 6"6. I ended up buying a Cee Bailey screen off fellow tosser (for £65 or so), and it really made the difference with buffetting (completely eliminated), and thankfully got rid of a really nasty buffetting (that forcibly rocked my helmet left/right when riding two up at 85+mph).
Wind noise still a real pain, but thats nothing compared to the physical beating of the wind. Cannot say that it would be possible to ride with visor open (like some of the other tossers on these type of threads).
I would guess that anything that is significantly bigger than the normal screen will give you excellent results, but there are so many different choices on screens, you'll never get a straight answer on which is best.
