Windows 10

Well I'm a technophobe and did the free upgrade offered.

Now I can receive emails a still on Outlook but not send them.

It seems to have dumped my Kasperskey Virus protection.

The wifi signal keeps disappearing.

It's dumped me off our network too.

I'm sure that it's all pretty simple stuff, for someone who knows what they are doing, but I've got someone coming to the office in the morning to sort it.

Maybe I was too keen to upgrade.

My Eset security wasn't showing either!

Press the start in the bottom left corner, select all apps, find Kaspersky, and drag it onto the task bar.

It's disappeared from there.

Would Defender have removed it?

Just re-download it off the Kasperskey website and activate it with your details.

My Outlook, Yahoo & Gmail all working both ways.

Can't seem to find a home button without switching to Chrome?

Re upgrade from Windows 8. Simple buy a Mac, it's future. :P

:agree

Sorry to jump in to this thread, but people seem to want to knock the Mac, but then they've probably never used one :blast

They just work ... quite simply they just feckin work :rob

OK, got my coat on .... over'n out :P

:beerjug:

I don't want to get into a Mac/PC argument, but the comment 'Wow' about the upgrade being slick made me chuckle as you're quite right, it is something novel to be able to easily upgrade a PC between operating systems. Something that Apple have been doing seamlessly for over 10 years.

Something about Windows 10 I have just seen via my Twitter feed is something people using Windows 10 should check, I certainly will should I use it (via VMWare on my Mac).

There is an option somewhere which as default, allows Microsoft to use your PC to help distribute updates to other PCs on your local network and the internet. Some would say, a bit like a virus bot.

It's a setting that I would switch off before connecting to the internet for the first time.

Must say with our internet connection just having to download updates once and then those files being distributed around my local network seems like a nice idea. However, I don't think I'll be going for sharing with other PCs on the Internet.

Shame Apple can't use its seamless OS updates when it comes to phones - read reports of many problems following updates from iOS 6 to 7 to 8.

As above I've been on the Windows insider testing kick for a few months and had one minor problem! I left my wifes laptop updating over night and did the set up for her yesterday!
No hassles it worked seamlessly and just needed a sound tweak re Lenovo that was very simple!
My wife has an eyesight problem and we've got her some nice tweaks that helps her and she's already into Cortana. The 10 email has been a hit with her instead of her usual yahoo page!
So far V good.

As for Mac, youngest daughter is Mac trained and her partner gets free Mac pc's, iPads and phones supplied by his families business and they are far from problem or fault free and have fucked up when travelling causing chaos. Daughter recently junked the iPhone for a Galaxy and has been amazed at what she's been missing.

Eldest daughter who is IT boss of large company travels with Mac and PC, iPhone and iPad, Mac systems have spit the dummy a few times when she's been travelling and cost her employers two return trips from the USA. Personal phone is Android as t gives her "more freedom and options".

Got mine sorted at last today after bringing in an IT guy.

Apparently there are quite a few folk having issues with outgoing emails but he sorted it.

It had dropped Kasperskey but it was hovering somewhere in the background.

It didn't seem to like iTunes either.

Anyway, all fixed...

Did mine yesterday, updated my Kaspersky and all working fine, its 100% better than windows 8.1, didnt bother waiting for the auto update just downloaded to a usb stick and set it off, going to do my desktop later today.

I'm finding waking up my laptop a bit slow, and a couple of other niggles not really worth mentioning.
But all in all I'm getting to grips with it and have to say it's good.

You know when you get a new phone & it seems a bit strange to start with ... but it's always better than your last phone! :beerjug:

Good bye and good riddance to Windows 8.1
Just downloaded Windows 10 no issues and a huge improvement

Ive just let a Microsoft guru have a go at it via remote access. After 20 mins the search function dissapeared, never to return. Did full re-install, nothing! Advised to go back to Windows 7 because as after 28 days running Windows 10 you wont be able to return. I will have to wait until they have ironed the bugs out. Maybe next year.

I'm back on 7 for the time being!

I thought 10 was great, even though I had to shut it down every time as I couldn't wake it up from sleep mode.

But last night it crashed big style & only the geeky mothers boy across the road could save it.

But as Arnie said .... ahh you know the rest!

Mine is running fine but how do I create a repair USB if it does crash or corrupt.
I disabled the new features until I was happy with the site and then only added what I wanted.
My Kaspersky has gone and I can't seem to find it on the search so if you have any idea or I'll download again but it won't accept the installer I saved when downloading 2015.
Cheers
G
