There are problems with it...it's riddled with DRM (digital rights management) protection apparently :(

A, er, 'friend of mine' downloaded a copy of Vista x32 Ultimate last night and will be trying it out on a second machine today..I'll let you know how he gets on with 'acquired' stuff ;)

('he' has been reading up on ways around it ;) )

Hmmm...

Vista appears to have some major hardware holes in it......it doesn't recognise or want to play with a very standard Netgear Wifi card :nenau

It also reported incompatibility issues with quite a lot of progs.

They've done it again haven't they

Thx Fanum....keep us updated with that mate.....yes looks like they done it again......Just that my er friends Laptop is new and he dont really want to upgrade if Vista is as Sh**e as we think.

Having probs with it.....

The DVD ISO that 'my friend' burnt will play on the main machine, but oddly isn't recognised by the DVD player on the target machine, though that's still fine with other DVD's....

It won't install from a network drive either....it hangs immediately after first reboot, both in upgrade option and clean install option.

The good news is though that even though the 'clean install' option warns that the existing windows is going to be over-written, a hard reset still brings up an option to reboot to XP, which it's done successfully.

Going to retry the DVD burn in case something was missed in the settings
