Hi All.

I wonder if anyone has any winterproofing tips?

On my Tiger I used to spray liberally with Winta Wax (engine included...excellent clouds of smoke during first usage after spraying!)

Would anyone advocate the liberal usage of Winta wax on a GS1150? Engine too?

Does anyone have any tips of their own?

Also, on one of my cylinder cooling fins there is a tiny spot of rust probably from a stone chip. What is the concensus for repairing/removing this to stop any spreading?

Ta in advance.

Used GP products protect and ride last year which worked really well, tried again this year and the stuff didn't want to come out of the bottles, it may well be a dodgy batch but it's made a really blotchy mess on my bike. Word is not to try the (silkolene?) spray on winter prep (in yellow container) as it washes off really easyilly.

Vaseline uses...

A friend of mine uses vaseline everywinter on his wheels. Don't wash them for the whole winter, and then jet wash them off on the 21/3 (first day of spring and my birthday) come up lovely and very cheap. Also if theres any left theres all kinds of things that can be done....

I use Finnigans Waxoyl on just about everything (to do with the bike OK!) except the exhausts, the engine bits that stick out the sides and the paintwork. I tend to dab it on with a brush or use the spray can on difficult bits. Leave on all winter. The bike (mandarin) gets all black 'n' orrid but come the spring it gets blasted off with a steam cleaner. Out comes a new (ish) shiny bike.
