hi i am having a go at setting up my dads laptop for wireless . and i need to purchase a card or usb thingy whats best pcmcia card? i think it has correct slot:rolleyes: or usb?.there is a million different ones on ebay cant make me mind up which would be best. the laptop is a hp pavilion ze5700

does it not have wireless built in? most modern laptops do.

i looked on HP website when i made original post. there's about a million variants of that model :P

Not a big enough clue? :nenau ;)

No one likes a smart arse - haven't you a portal to work on?

I've dug out the manual and nope, no wireless, its a 2002 model laptop - I'd go for a PC card (PCMCIA) as they stick out less and you're less likely to use the slot for anything else. A USB aerial/dongle sticks out a long way and I've seen many bent/broken ones .

thanks for replys is it worth buying the more expensive cards or usb dongles or are the cheap n cheerfull ones ok is it just range and speed or more to it:rolleyes:

Get the one which matches the wireless router currently in use, although all devices which share the same 802.11{x} protocol, they don't always?

i.e. if its a Netgear router, get a netgear card of the same type.
