Hello Friends, I need some help from you electrical experts.

I am trying to find an "ignition feed" for a wire on a BikeTrac unit I am putting on my 2004 F650Gs twin spark.

I have looked at the wiring diagram in my Haynes manual, and I can see two "optional equipment" places, one positioned on the diagram between the Instrument Cluster and RH handlebar switch, and one between the Diode (with ABS) and the Ignition Switch.

I suspect that one of these two is the auxilliary socket from which I run my satnav (to the left side, beneath the oil reservoir) but I am not sure. That one is not controlled by the ignition, so is no good.

Can anyone tell me where I can find these two "optional equipment" places on the bike?

Or give me a suggestion where I can tap into an ignition feed wire which is easy to get at?

Any help much appreciated.

RobA.

When fitting an Aux 12vDC socket to my F650GS I had a similar quandaray. In the end I took a feed from the ignition-feed +ve going to the heated grips rocker switch. That seemed the best place as the box on the bars holding that (and the ABS rocker switch) was easy to dissassemble, routing the wire back down the same roue as the loom for the aforementioned.
